Sherwood Christian Academy is helping parents provide their children with a quality, Bible-based education. The Academy is an integral ministry of Sherwood Baptist Church and saw its first classes of kindergarten meet in the current church facilities.
In 1985, three hundred students in grades K3 through 7th began meeting in Sherwood Christian Academy's current elementary campus on Stuart Avenue. Today, Sherwood Christian Academy serves over 500 students and conducts classes on two campuses. The Elementary School, K4-5th grade, operates in the Stuart Avenue facility.
In 1989, the Secondary School, grades 6th-12th, moved to the former Riverview Academy's property on Old Pretoria Road. Even though Sherwood Christian Academy is a ministry of Sherwood Baptist Church, it provides educational services to families representing more than 80 different churches from all across Albany and the surrounding communities.
The Sherwood Christian Academy School Committee is responsible for holding the Academy in trust for Sherwood Baptist Church. The school's administration is responsible for all the daily operations of the school.
