Academic Requirements and Policies
 
Grading System 
The following grading system is used for students in grades nine through twelve:

Course Credits
Students earn one-half credit for each semester course passed with a grade of 70 or above.

Schedule Change Procedures
 
Add Policy: With the approval of the principal, guidance counselor, and teacher(s), a student may add a new course during the first ten (10) days of the semester.

Drop Policy: With the approval of the principal, guidance counselor, and teacher(s), a student may drop a course during the first ten (10) days of the semester without the subject being recorded on the academic record.

Exam Exemption Policy
Students who have a maximum of two (2) B's and all A's in all the remaining classes may exempt two exams the first semester and three exams the second semester, in the subjects in which they have A's for the semester.  Any student having a C or lower for the final semester average, prior to exams, in any course during that semester, may not exempt any exam that semester.  

Any student that has more than ten (10) absences for other than school-related activities may not exempt the exam in that subject. (Three unexcused tardies to class consitutes one unexcused absence to that class.)  

Any student that has more than ten (10) unexcused tardies to school during a semester may not exempt any exam that semester. 

Exams for AP courses may not be exempted first semester.  All students in AP courses must take, as their 2nd semester exam, the AP National Exam.

 

Any senior may exempt his/her second semester exam if passing that subject and he/she has less than ten absences in that class and no more thanten (10) unexcused tardies to school during that semester.
