Sherwood Christian Academy is pleased to announce Hannah Albano and Mary Grace Piper as its valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, for the class of 2024.
Valedictorian Hannah Albano is the daughter of Rev. and Dr. John and Lynn Albano of Albany. She has attended SCA for eight years and is a member of Northgate Presbyterian Church. Some of her achievements include being an honor graduate, headmaster scholar, and a member of the National Honor Society. She won “Best Actor” at GAPPS One Act State Competition in 2022 and 2023. In 2022, she won first place in duo interpretation at GAPPS Literary State Competition. She was a member of SCA’s Mock Trial team for two years and won “Best Witness” at region, district, and state-level competitions. She was awarded the Georgia Certificate of Merit. Albano was named a STAR Student. She earned a varsity letter for volleyball, basketball, tennis (All-Region), and cross country. She was awarded first place at ATC Studios Young Playwrights Competition. She served as class chaplain in student government for four years. Hannah plans to attend Belhaven University and major in Musical Theater and History. She received a full-tuition scholarship.
Salutatorian Mary Grace Piper is the daughter of Ms. Ginger Piper of Albany. She has attended SCA for four years and is a member of Sherwood Baptist Church. Some of her achievements include being an honor graduate, headmaster scholar, and a member of the National Honor Society. She participated in One Act three years with back-to-back state championships. Piper placed first in Rhetorical Writing at GAPPS Literary State Competition in 2023. She was a member of the Mock Trial team for two years, where the team won first place at the region and district level. She earned a varsity letter in basketball and volleyball. She served as Student Council Class Vice President in 10th and 11th grades and Student Body President her senior year. Mary Grace plans to attend Georgia College & State University and major in Political Science with the desire to attend law school. She received a scholarship for full tuition.
Sherwood Christian Academy will hold its 35th commencement exercises for the class of 2024 at Sherwood Baptist Church on Friday, May 17, at 7:00 p.m. Senior Pastor of Crossroads Baptist Church of Valdosta, Rev. Garrett Grubbs, will deliver the commencement address to the graduates.
