EDUCATION: Bachelor’s in Education, Master’s degree, and Specialist degree in Middle Grades Education, all from Georgia Southwestern State University
YEARS LEADING IN EDUCATION: With 18 years of experience in education, I’ve dedicated my career to shaping the minds of middle and high school students.
WHAT IS YOU FAVORITE THING ABOUT TEACHING HIGH SCHOOL AT SCA? While my heart has always been with middle schoolers, I am thoroughly enjoying my role in high school education. I see it as a unique opportunity placed before me by God. I’m grateful for the chance to encourage students as they navigate their journey to adulthood.
FAVORITE PLACE YOU’VE VISITED ON VACATION: I have a deep passion for travel and thrive on exploring new destinations! I find myself growing restless when staying in one place for too long. Hiking is one of my favorite ways to connect with nature, and I treasure the opportunity to experience God’s breathtaking creations firsthand. One of my most memorable trips was to the Grand Tetons, where I had the privilege of hiking to the stunning glacier lakes, a journey that left a lasting impression on me!
FAVORITE HOBBY/HIDDEN TALENT: For the past 14 years, I’ve worked as an event planner, honing my organizational skills and attention to detail. In addition to event planning, I restore furniture, transforming old pieces into beautiful, refreshed works of art!
FAVORITE BOOK: I have so many favorite books, but my favorite genre is historical fiction. One of my favorite historical fiction novels (semi true story) is Jubilee by Margaret Walker. It is based on the Civil War period and in our local area.
FAVORITE MOVIE: I have a soft spot for romantic comedies and historical fiction, particularly those that weave in a touch of romance and adventure.
FAVORITE SNACK: I am a cheese lover…I love all things cheese! I usually gravitate towards a cheese stick or cheesy crunchy snack.
WHY DO YOU THINK CHRISTIAN EDUCATION IS IMPORTANT AND SPECIAL? Christian education is essential at all stages of learning, but I believe it becomes especially crucial in middle and high school. At this pivotal stage, preparing young people to confidently defend their faith in the real world is a key responsibility of a Christian educator. Equipping students with the knowledge and confidence to stand firm in their beliefs is not only important for their personal growth but also for their ability to engage with the world around them from a Christian perspective.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY AT SCA? One of the highlights and my fondest memories here at SCA so far has been watching students during their service trip, where they actively poured into others’ lives—a powerful reminder of the importance of service in shaping the next generation of leaders.
