This is Sherwood Christian Academy’s third year of competition in Mock Trial. In their first year, the team made it to the State level of competition, and last year they advanced to the District level.
The Georgia High School Mock Trial Competition, established in 1988, offers students a unique opportunity to learn about the legal system while developing critical skills such as public speaking, critical thinking, and teamwork. Coached by volunteer attorneys and teachers, teams prepare trial presentations from case materials created by the H.S, Mock Trial Committee. During the competition, students assume the roles of attorneys and witnesses in a simulated court case, with professional attorneys and judges serving as presiding judges and evaluators.
The top teams from each region will advance to the District competitions, with the ultimate goal of competing in the State Finals and potentially the National High School Mock Trial Championship in Phoenix, Arizona.
