We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Dana Freeman to Sherwood Christian Academy this school year as Middle School Science teacher! With many years of experience teaching at both the collegiate and middle school levels, she is a fantastic addition to our exceptional Middle School team.
Ms. Freeman is passionate about making science come alive in the classroom. Whether she’s leading hands-on experiments, demonstrating the mechanics of a lever, or exploring the wonders of space through the lens of God’s creation, she inspires curiosity and discovery in her students.
Join us in giving Ms. Freeman a warm SCA welcome!
EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Exercise Science and Wellness from Georgia Southwestern University; Masters in Health and Physical Education from Albany State University
YEARS LEADING IN EDUCATION: I taught at Darton College for 9-10 years and this is my fourth year to teach in private school.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT TEACHING MIDDLE SCHOOL AT SCA? Middle School is just FUN!
FAVORITE PLACE YOU’VE VISITED ON VACATION: Disney World with my kids and family
FAVORITE HOBBY/HIDDEN TALENT: I love woodworking and painting. I mostly make door hangers, but have made a few furniture pieces.
FAVORITE BOOK: “Case for Grace” by Lee Strobel
FAVORITE SNACK: Potato chips
AS A CHILD, WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP? I wanted to be an architect because I loved drawing. I also wanted to be a veterinarian because I loved animals. (Obviously, neither one of those panned out.)
WHY DO YOU THINK CHRISTIAN EDUCATION IS IMPORTANT AND SPECIAL? I am so blessed to have been placed in Christian Education. I have the opportunity to openly talk about God every day, showing the relationship between Creation and our Creator. I am able to pray with my students and encourage them to pray. It is so special, and I am grateful for the opportunity.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY AT SCA? I have made so many sweet memories already this year, but one that stands out to me the most is our first Spiritual Emphasis week. It was a sweet time watching the older students mentor and disciple the younger students during group sessions. We had several middle schoolers come to Christ that week and seeing the excitement on all of their faces when the announcements came over the intercom was so special.
